Terms of service · updated 10 October 2026
Terms
These are the terms for Ask My Papers plans. Project work such as builds and training is covered by a written proposal, which takes precedence where it differs.
The service
Tasman Intelligence Lab Limited (“we”) provides an assistant that answers questions from documents you supply (“your documents”), within the limits of your plan as published on our plans page at the time you sign up.
Your documents
You confirm you have the right to use your documents in this way. You keep all rights in them. You give us permission to store, process and index them only to provide the service to you.
Your papers
You confirm that you’re an author of the papers you add, or have the right to share them. If you believe an assistant uses work you own without permission, email hello@tasmanlab.com with the assistant’s link and the paper; we’ll take the paper down while we look into it, usually within two working days.
Limits and fair use
Each plan has a page limit and a monthly question limit. When the question limit is reached, the assistant pauses until the next month; we don’t charge for overage. Please don’t use the service to process information you’re not allowed to share, or try to disrupt it.
Fees and billing
Fees are in New Zealand dollars and include GST where GST applies. Monthly plans are billed monthly in advance; annual plans are billed yearly in advance. Setup fees are charged once.
Cancelling
You can cancel a monthly plan at any time, effective at the end of the month you’ve paid for. Annual plans can be cancelled for a full refund within 14 days of starting; after that, they run to the end of the paid year. We delete your documents and index within 30 days of the plan ending. You can cancel from your account page; the link is in your billing emails.
Answers
Answers are written by a language model from passages in your documents. They cite their sources so they can be checked, but they can be incomplete or wrong. Don’t rely on an answer for a decision without checking the source it cites.
Availability
We aim to keep the service running at all times but can’t guarantee it will never be interrupted. We’ll tell you in advance about planned changes that affect you.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. If you are acquiring the service for the purposes of a business, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply.
Changes and law
We may update these terms and will give you at least 30 days’ notice of changes that affect an active plan. These terms are governed by New Zealand law.
